When Norwegians are in isolated places

When they have the opportunity to escape

They feel safe

They greet

They small talk

For no reason

When family and friends come to visit from abroad

I bring them to the Norwegian mountains

I show them how beautiful the Norwegian wilderness is

And how polite Norwegians are

Everyone says "hei"

Norwegians smile to people they have never met

Some even stop to small talk

About the weather

About the beauty of the landscape

Some might even ask foreigners where they are from

Why they are in Norway

Wishing them welcome to this magnificent country

When Norwegians have the possibility to escape

In the mountains, at the hytte, when cross-country skiing

They greet

They acknowledge each other

It is enjoyable

Everyone feels welcomed
