The Norwegian Workday

Source: "The Social Guidebook to Norway"

Norwegians are very disciplined

Everyone is at work when they need to

They work hard

They go to meetings

They take phone calls

They reply to emails

Until the clock switches to 16h

At 16h it is time to go

Even if you are in the middle of a meeting

Or in the middle of a conversation

It is completely acceptable to leave at 16h

You need to pick up the kids at the kindergarten

Or drive them to football training

Or you have evening full of activities

You may not even say good evening to your colleagues when you leave

You will see them anyway the next morning

You are efficient

You work effectively during the day

And when it is time to go home

You go home

You take care of the kids

You do physical activities

Often you come back to your computer later during the evening

When the kids are sleeping

And finish things you may not have managed to finish before 16h
