Norwegian are pragmatic
They communicate directly
Often in straightforward ways
Sometimes it may feel rude from a foreign perspective
But really it is not meant in a bad way
Norwegians are not impolite
They just use simple, direct & pragmatic communication
Don't worry you will get use to it
Here is a little list of common expression you will come across in Norway
"Oi!" may also express surprise and is a good reply to "Nei, men!"
In that setting it means "What a nice surprise to see you!"
