Advertising in Norway

Many of the tried-and-true advertising techniques found in Western markets simply don’t work in Norway.

Those play on the emotions of envy, greed and even fear.

In Norway you’ll need to focus on other attributes in your advertising instead.

You have to talk about the quality of your product.

You cannot say that your product is better than others.

Your product is good, but never exceptionally better than others.

If a Norwegian describes your business or product as “nice” it means it’s probably going to be a massive success.

And word-of-mouth marketing is everything in Norway.

It’s OK if others say your product is great.

As long as you don’t try too hard to say it yourself.

If just a handful of Norwegians speak highly of something, news tends to spread very fast.

One of the advantages of working in a small country.

Read "The Loud American: Working with Norwegians". It is not any better than other books, but some people believe it is good. Not excellent, but good enough. It tells you about how you may be perceived at work in Norway. You can buy if you want, but you do not need to.

It is Black Friday this week. You get 40% discount when ordering here
